I love Harmonium

Nic was fantastic and always obliged me when I asked questions and for special favours, like the videos of the harmonium and guidance on how best use it and to look after it. Nic took the time to talk with me over the phone and helped guide me make the right choice for my needs for Bhajans.

I'm in love with my Paul & Co harmonium from Old Delhi Music. Thanks guys.

An absolute gem of an instrument

I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you to Nic and Old Delhi Music for making my dreams of owning this masterpiece reality.

I just received my Paul & Co. Harmonium that I purchased from Old Delhi Music. It's an absolute gem of an instrument. The quality, the sound and the craftsmanship of this beautiful instrument is second to none.

I do own a few other Harmoniums from other Harmonium manufacturers, but the quality and craftsmanship of Paul & Co Harmoniums are in a class of it's own.

I am so glad that I chose Old Delhi Music to purchase my original Paul & Co. Harmonium. They made my purchase of owning an original Paul & Co. Harmonium easy and worry free.

I highly recommend this instrument to anyone who appreciates a true work of art and an instrument with the highest quality, sound and craftsmanship.

Thanks again Nic and Old Delhi Music for making my dreams come true.

Superb quality, superb sound

This is probably the highest quality harmonium you will find. I am an engineer as well as a musician (and an instrument maker), and I pride myself on maintaining a high level of quality and precision in my work. I am very aware that, in general, precise craftsmanship is not something you encounter in harmoniums. However, this Paul & Co 13/4 seems to be a notable exception.

The aesthetics of this instrument are great. A close look at this instrument (outside and in) strongly reinforces the evidence that this instrument was built with precision by skilled craftspeople. That translates directly to smooth, precise, and even playability. It is also designed to be serviceable, and looks like it should last a lifetime if properly cared for.

If you're going to buy this model get it with the wet tuning (otherwise the 11/3 is a wiser option). It's the primary reason for having two identical male reed banks. With the four reed banks and the left-acting coupler, the variety of sounds this harmonium can deliver is truly astonishing! One cool thing to note is that when the coupler is engaged, even the low notes that are below where the keys are positioned will sound.

At 50 pounds it takes some focused exertion (and care) to move it around, but the handle does seem nice and solid. The soft case allows the handle to still be used to lift and carry the instrument.

This may not be the finest harmonium you can buy, but it is by far the finest one I've ever seen or heard! I'm psyched!

OUR TUNING PROCESS:

Our standard harmonium tuning process begins at our shop in India and ends at our U.S. location where a member of our staff - all highly trained and deeply experienced musicians - will finalize the set-up and tuning on every harmonium we sell. You won't find a more thorough refinement process anywhere.

Equal Tuning - (Free): This service is recommended for anyone playing in traditional non-Western orientations or simply enjoying music independently and/or not playing in any groups. These instruments are nicely in tune to themselves, but not universally matched to any specific pitch reference. This is the typical approach taken in India.

Concert Pitch (A440 tuning) - Add $250: This is the best choice for most musicians, students, and those who play their instrument with others. A440 hz is the tuning standard for Western Instruments - piano, guitar, etc. Some refer to this as “Concert Pitch A440”. For this service, our expert musicians in the US will tune the instrument to correspond with the Concert Pitch standard.

While much of India is rapidly advancing, the Indian instrument manufacturing process remains very old school. From touch ups to tuning, much of what we do at Old Delhi Music is add a layer of quality control to an otherwise non-standardized production process.

We wrote THIS ARTICLE to ensure customers understand and might appreciate this vintage production style, the unique products we carry, and how we're working to ensure genuine quality, despite the odds. It's a quick read, and definitely worthwhile for anyone considering the purchase of a traditional Indian instrument.
