The MKS No. 3 is an introduction to world-class Karaj Pancham / Ravi Shankar style sitars - perfect for serious students and intermediate players alike. Monoj Kumar Sardar & Bros. (a.k.a. "MKS" or "Sardar") sitars produce a bright clean sound. The action and tone are great.

We have these in our inventory in the U.S., and they are each set up in our Urbana, IL shop before shipping. They are traditional "Ravi Shankar style" in orientation with 7 main strings and 13 taraf/sympathetic strings. The fit and finish of this sitar will not disappoint. The carving and penwork are simple and well done.

While much of India is rapidly advancing, the Indian instrument manufacturing process remains comparatively primitive. From touch ups to tuning, much of what we do at Old Delhi Music is add a layer of quality control to an otherwise non-standardized production process.

          Very Happy!

          This sitar plays very well and has an outstanding tone. I had never played a sitar before comparing this one to another one, and I'm happy I chose the MKS #3. Thanks, Nic, for making me aware of this instrument!
