OUR TUNING PROCESS:

Our standard harmonium tuning process begins at our shop in India and ends at our U.S. location where a member of our staff - all highly trained and deeply experienced musicians - will finalize the set-up and tuning on every harmonium we sell. You won't find a more thorough refinement process anywhere.

BHAVA HARMONIUM TUNING OPTIONS:

Concert Pitch (A440 tuning) - FREE: This is the best choice for most musicians, students, and those who play their instrument with others. A440 hz is the tuning standard for Western Instruments - piano, guitar, etc. Some refer to this as “Concert Pitch A440”. For this service, our expert musicians in the US will tune the instrument to correspond with the Concert Pitch standard.

Cosmic Pitch (A432 Tuning) - Add $100/Non-returnable: For most customers, this service is neither practical nor recommended, but for those who are experimenting in this direction, we do offer the service on select models from our store. With this service, all reeds are drastically retuned nearly a quarter tone below standard Concert Pitch to match a middle A resonating at exactly 432 hz. While this service will not void any warranty with our store, it is not reversible. Therefore, any harmoniums or shruti boxes tuned to A432 will not be eligible for return or exchange.

An A432 hz. referenced instrument will sound very out of tune when played alongside any traditionally tuned instrument. This means if you are taking a harmonium course, you will not be able to play this instrument alongside your instructor or classmates. Similarly, if you are using this instrument in a recording or performing context, you will not be able to use this unless every other instrument is also tuned to this pitch reference.

Our policy lasts 14 days from the day you receive your instrument. Beyond this, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

Only standard items may be refunded. We cannot refund purchases of products that have been highly customized per customer request. This policy excludes standard tuning or tuning to A440, but includes tuning to A432 and other less common calibrations.

EXCHANGES (if applicable)

We will replace all standard items or parts if they are defective or otherwise damaged. B-stock and used instruments are not replaceable but still eligible for exchange. If you need to exchange any item, please send us an email at olddelhimusic@gmail.com .
While much of India is rapidly advancing, the Indian instrument manufacturing process remains very old school. From touch ups to tuning, much of what we do at Old Delhi Music is add a layer of quality control to an otherwise non-standardized production process.

We wrote THIS ARTICLE to ensure customers understand and might appreciate this vintage production style, the unique products we carry, and how we're working to ensure genuine quality, despite the odds. It's a quick read, and definitely worthwhile for anyone considering the purchase of a traditional Indian instrument.

Thank you,
Old Delhi Music

Little box of joy!

I already have the full size Teak harmonium at home and decided to get this Lite version for travel. On my way to Dharamshala from Australia, Nic and his team were able to coordinate delivering this mini harmonium to me in Delhi during my layover.

The harmonium is actually slightly taller than the standard for carry-on (it would not fit in the sizing rack at the airport). However, no airline staff questioned it and I was able to bring it as carry-on onto 4 flights. On the small plane from Delhi to Dharamshala, it would not fit in the overhead storage, but it JUST fit under the seat.

Small but mighty, this harmonium has a gorgeous warm and full sound and will be my companion on many trips to India as I continue my musical journey.

Thank you to the whole ODM team for making such quality instruments and for the always excellent customer service!

Thanks for the great review, Bonnie!

As a clarification re: travel. These DO fit in a 'typical' overhead compartment, but on a smaller plane, those compartments can be smaller. I am glad that in this example, it still fit underneath the seat. For sure, it is 'small but mighty'...better than anything else this size.

RE: air travel with harmoniums - Airlines generally give exemptions for musical instruments that are larger than the allowable carry on size for luggage. The simple reason is that they don't want to be liable for breaking someones prized instrument.

Hope this addendum is helpful!

Joy

I've just received the Bhava Lite Concert, and it's perfect for my devotional practice. It's small enough to play on my lap before meditation, allowing me to feel the frequencies resonating through my body. The craftsmanship of this harmonium is truly amazing. Shipping to New Zealand was quick and easy. Bernie K

I just received my new harmonium and she is perfect! So beautiful. Sound is perfect. Top quality. Having bought a dud from India before, I highly recommend buying from old Delhi. The harmonium was shipped to Australia super quick.

Wonderful little box!

This turned out to be exactly what we wanted: great sound and great craftsmanship in a small, lightweight package. For our needs (small living space and a need for mobility) at this time, it's perfect.
